Unsettled

The Fox seems to be finally settling down. Now he’s on the reduced medication he seems much calmer. His sleeping pattern has been shot to pieces but I dare say it will soon settle back into his more normal pattern. It’s quite a relief. He continues on with his 3 pills a day for another few days. Then we just keep our fingers crossed that the rash will disappear for ever.

I feel quite unsettled at the moment. Partly it’s the Fox’s ill-health, but partly it is because the radio in our lounge has packed up. We can still play CDs on it, but I miss Radio 4 as I have my breakfast cuppa or do my jigsaws. For that matter I miss “The Archers”. I’m a regular listener to that.

The Fox has bought a new radio on-line but it‘s not arrived yet. It should be here soon though. Meanwhile the house is largely silent.

In all honesty I think I would find the television packing up less disruptive than the radio doing so, even though we do have radios in the kitchen & bedroom as well as the lounge one. I only watch the TV in the evening & then it’s often not switched on much of the time as we listen to music & chunter instead. It’s very rare I could be bothered with television during the daytime.

Nearing the end

My silence is mainly due to the Fox. His sleeping is so out of sorts that he is up & about, disrupting my lifestyle too. I’m finding it exhausting trying to keep up with him. I certainly can’t settle to going on the computer, confident of having a time to be undisturbed.

Yesterday we ended up having a rush round as he realised he hadn’t enough pills for the course. We eventually managed to get the extra 7 pills which we should have got when the pills were first prescribed.

It is with a certain sense of relief I say that he has now finished one lot of pills. The second lot he is cutting down to 3, rather than 6, a day. I’m hoping this will mean he will calm down a bit & sleep better.

His rash has largely dried up and no new eruptions have occurred. However there are still the remains of the rash all over. I’m just hoping when these pills stop the next wave of rash doesn’t appear. At least now it won’t be so long until his hospital visit at the end of the month. Hopefully that will well & truly see the end of the rash & life can get back to normal.

Feeling the years

Another cold frosty morning. When I took out the onion peeling this morning I had difficulty taking the lid off the compost bin as it was so frozen down.

The Fox is not doing well. His rash does seem to be drying up. However, more itching is beginning to arrive. Meanwhile the medication is making him so euphoric he’s having difficulty sleeping. He’s also losing his appetite once more. There just doesn’t seem to be any winning.

Yesterday afternoon was spent on the phone catching up on family news. I was most surprised to hear from my cousin Michael. I think he’s only rung about once before. However, he seemed in good humour. It encouraged me to make the effort to ring around some of the other cousins & check all is well. On the whole it seems so, though some are feeling their age. I’m one of the younger cousins in my extended family. Most of my cousins are at least 10 years older so I suppose it’s not surprising they should be starting to feel the limitations brought on with age. Even the Fox is beginning to feel his years – he’s 4 years older than me - as a result of this rash. He’s finding it more draining than the stroke he had years ago. But maybe the stroke is part of the reason he’s feeling that way. He’s never really regained his stamina. The rash will certainly take a bit of getting over.
